Harry awoke on the morning of his hearing before the sun had fully risen. Ron was still sleeping fitfully in the bed across the room so Harry dressed quickly, careful not to wake him. He tried with all his might not to think that the next time he saw Ron, they may no longer be housemates at Hogwarts. Due to his early rise, Harry had assumed he would be able to have some time to himself downstairs but no sooner had he set foot in the kitchen than Mrs. Weasley was corralling him towards the long table, pushing a plate of toast and scrambled eggs in front of him. "Have some breakfast" she ordered in a very concerned, motherly way.
Harry could have no sooner eaten the food placed before him than he could have erased the scar from his forehead. His insides were too tightly bunched in knots to allow even the smallest portion of food to go down without coming back up. But Mrs. Weasley had gone to so much extra trouble, waking up hours early just to make it for him, that he felt complied to at least push the eggs around with his fork until she looked the other way, when he allowed Crookshanks who was skulking around to help him out.
Mr. Weasley entered the kitchen through the back door, dressed to travel at quarter of seven. "Ready to go Harry" he asked grimly. "Your hearing isn't until noon but I thought I'd bring you in with me this morning and you can just wait in my office." Mrs. Weasley was bending over a bubbling pot on the stove, trying very hard to appear as though she wasn't listening to the nearby conversation. As Harry would much rather spend the hours until learning his fate in a small cramped space with only Mr. Weasley as witness to his nerves, rather than a couple dozen concerned order members, not to mention Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Fred, and George, he nodded and got to his feet. "Thanks for breakfast Mrs. Weasley." He squeezed out his best attempt at a grateful smile before hurrying through the back door after Mr. Weasley. He thought he heard her call distantly "good luck" but he didn't need luck.
He needed a miracle.
